Dressing Impairment and the Disability Tax Credit

The DTC supports individuals who have significant difficulty dressing independently.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • You can't dress yourself without assistance

  • It takes you three times longer than someone your age, even if you use therapy or medication

  • Your condition affects you almost all the time, about 90% or more

  • Your impairment has lasted or is expected to last for a continuous period of at least 12 months

Common Qualifying Conditions:

  • Severe arthritis

  • Paralysis

  • Neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis

  • Amputations of the upper or lower limbs

Medical Certification:

Must be certified by a medical doctor, nurse practitioner or occupational therapist
